📷 CAMERA GEAR
✔️ Your Camera – Any DSLR or mirrorless body will work great. Full-frame sensors are ideal for detail, dynamic range, and low-light wildlife moments.
✔️ Telephoto Lens (Essential) – A 200–600mm is perfect for wildlife.
✔️ Standard Lens (24–70mm) – Great for environmental wildlife shots, lodge moments, landscapes, and portraits.
✔️ Wide-angle Lens (24–70mm or wider) – Useful for vehicle-wide scenes, dramatic skies, and landscapes beneath Kilimanjaro.
✔️ A Tripod
✔️ Camera Bean Bag (Optional) – Tripods aren’t practical in safari vehicles, so a bean bag or window mount is the best way to stabilize your shots.
✔️ Extra Camera Batteries – Some game drives are long, and battery drainage can happen fast. Bring at least 2–3 spares.
✔️ Plenty of Memory Cards — bring more cards than you think you’ll need.

🧥 CLOTHING & WEATHER GEAR
✔️ Lightweight, Breathable Clothing – Days can get warm. Choose fabrics that keep you cool and comfortable.
✔️ Layers for Early Mornings – Sunrise drives can be chilly. Bring a light jacket or fleece.
✔️ Neutral-Colored Clothing – Stick to earth tones: tan, olive, brown. Bright colors can attract insects or distract wildlife.
✔️ Comfortable Closed-Toe Shoes – No intense hiking, but you’ll want sturdy, comfy shoes for lodge walking and short trails.
✔️ Wide-Brim Hat – Ideal for sun protection during midday.
✔️ Rain Jacket – Occasional showers can pop up, especially in the Mara.
✔️ Scarf or Buff – Helps with dust on game drives.
I accept all levels of experience in photography, but please make sure you have the gear needed; otherwise, it will be no fun for you. If you are missing a lens or an ND filter, don’t worry!
There will be no long or strenuous hiking or heavy physical exertion needed. People in their 20s-80s join us in these workshops. However, you must be able to walk up a few flights of stairs with your gear. If that is going to be a challenge, this might not be the best next workshop for you.
If you have a Non-Photographer +1, they may attend the entire workshop. But due to the high, hard costs associated with this trip, any +1 on this trip will be the same cost as a regular photographer.

The best airport to fly into for the Kenya Wildlife Workshop is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. This is the main international gateway to Kenya and the most convenient starting point for our journey.
We’ll announce the official meeting point and lodge details as we get closer to the workshop date.
Feel free to arrive earlier if you’d like to explore Nairobi, visit local markets, or simply unwind before the adventure.
After the workshop, you’ll depart from the same airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), following our early group dinner and return transfer on the final day.
