The group leaves the hotel at 4:00 AM in sprinter vans, Mercedes or equivilent, heading toward Maroon Bells (a 45-minute drive) for a spectacular sunrise shoot. There’s no hiking involved, and you’ll enjoy stunning sunrise views over the mountain peaks reflected on the serene lake.
On the way back to the hotel, we’ll make unforgettable stops to capture the breathtaking beauty of aspen trees in their most picturesque settings. Each location offers a unique perspective, ensuring you leave with a stunning collection of images that truly showcase the magic of the landscape.
After lunch, we’ll visit the local Peter Lik Gallery before returning to the hotel by 1:00 PM for a short nap before the next shoot.

We’ll then head out toward McClure Pass, with plenty of opportunities to stop and capture the golden aspen trees along the way.
This location offers vistas of some of Bob Augsburg's top-selling photos in his entire portfolio, and it will be our sunset shoot as well.
After sunset, we’ll enjoy a late dinner together at one of the best BBQ spots in the state—an iconic location called Slow Groovin BBQ:

We will be staying in this hotel until the morning of Day 2, Tuesday, Sept 29th.
Dawn shoot at Independence Pass, featuring an old mining ghost town and aspen trees. This is one of the most scenic locations in Colorado, offering incredible photographic opportunities.
After breakfast, this will also be a great time to rest and prepare to check out of your hotel by 10:30 AM.
(1.5-hour road trip) Stop at Rifle Falls for a quick visit, followed by lunch in the town of Rifle, CO.
(3-hour road trip) Leaving Rifle, this will be a longer drive, so we’ll need to make good time to arrive in time for sunset.
Around 4:00 PM: Check in at the hotel in Ouray, CO, for a 2-night stay.
4:30 PM: Leave the hotel for a sunset shoot at the Beaumont Hotel in Ouray, CO.
Dinner afterward in the vintage 1800s gold rush-era downtown area of Ouray, CO.

We’re heading to the San Juan Mountains Scenic Byway, packed with stunning views and endless photo opportunities.
Back to the hotel for breakfast.
Join us for a 3-hour daytime editing session in the ballroom of the Beaumont, where we’ll focus on enhancing your images and refining your editing techniques in a relaxed, productive setting.

We’ll stop along the way several times—this is one of the most scenic routes, and the stops will be worth it!
2-hour drive: We’ll be stopping a few times.
Arrive at Telluride at 3:45 PM.
Spend 1 hour in Telluride, sightseeing the gorgeous 1890s Gold Rush Victorian-era downtown, art galleries, food, etc.
Leave Telluride at 4:45 PM.
The final shoot of the night will include about 4 stops on this extraordinary scenic drive to Lizard Head Pass. This was last years Grand Finale—we can’t wait!
This shoot will end at 7:30 PM.
We’ll then drive back to Telluride for dinner and return to Ouray that night.

We will be staying in this hotel for the ending of the 3-Day Photo Adventure.
Start the final morning of the adventure with an incredible shoot on County Road 7 in the heart of the San Juan Mountains. This area offers breathtaking views and the perfect chance to capture the stunning scenery one last time.
Return to the hotel for breakfast and prepare for our final editing session. This 3-hour editing session in the ballroom of the Beaumont will focus on perfecting your images from the trip, refining your techniques, and preparing your portfolio for your next steps.
Wrap up the adventure with a spectacular sunset shoot at Owl Creek Pass. This iconic location, with its dramatic landscapes and sweeping views, will be the perfect conclusion to an unforgettable 4-day journey.
